Welcome to the Museum of Geography! This Museum represents an essential part of the Grand Tour of Science for two main reasons: because Geography was the first discipline that travelers could rely on when embarking on the historical Grands Tours, adventurous journeys of discovery and knowledge, and because this is the first Museum of Geography in Italy, and probably the only one of its kind. Inaugurated in December 2019, the Museum aims to enhance the legacy of geography research and teaching that the University of Padua has collected and preserved for more than 150 years as well as to reintroduce Geography as primary source of knowledge needed to increase awareness of the world we live in as we face current and future challenges.
The visit we propose is therefore a journey that starts with you as we lead you on the historical evolution of the geographical sciences towards rediscovering the reasons why geography is so important, useful and engaging. We invite you to climb the large staircase that leads to the landing where the first stage of this journey awaits. Enjoy your visit!
