The slabs compose a circular monument. Five of the original seven are on display here. Each depicts a barefoot dancer wearing a peplos, the typical attire for women in Ancient Greece.
The figures differ from one another in the arrangement of the mantle – either twirling in the air or wrapped around the body – and in the hairstyle, with the hair either tied by a ribbon, a string or gathered in a headscarf.
This finely crafted architectural feature probably embellished a funerary monument of considerable scale.
