Seven bronze tablets and nine texts, deeply engraved on the surface with letters from alphabets of two different origins: Etruscan and Latin.
The tablets are the oldest proof of the Umbrian language in our possession. The Eugubian tablets are engraved with a text of a liturgical nature.
They are indications for purification ceremonies, closely linked to the cycle of nature. The ancient inhabitants of Gubbio wrote out procedures for important activities: worship of the divinity, sacrifices, ceremonials, and even tax regulations.
All well-known rules, engraved into the metal to protect collective rituals and prevent any possible changes over time.
