High Mountains - Diorama

The higher you ascend, the lower the temperatures drop.

The higher you ascend, the lower the temperatures drop, and living conditions become challenging. Nonetheless, even in these environments, many animals thrive!

Consider that some of them have arrived in these mountains from Northern Europe during the Quaternary glaciations - just to give you an idea, the most recent one dates back to 11,000 years ago - by following routes that later became inaccessible.

Like in the forest, here, too, your hearing, perhaps even more than your sight, is an ideal ally to discover the many animals inhabiting these areas, and it is all about the whistling! If you are lucky, during a hike, you might hear the whistle of the Chamois, or that of the Marmot, or perhaps the screech of the Golden Eagle high in the sky...

In spring, there is even a sort of singing contest! Male Mountain Pheasants gather here and perform ritual displays to court the females of the species. Among the participants, a winner is identified, who can mate with multiple females - never underestimate the allure of talent!
